Whether you’re in a quiet environment or trying to take a candid shot, the camera sound can be quite intrusive. Fortunately, there are simple ways to turn off the camera sound on your iPhone. Use Live Photos to Disable Camera Shutter Sound
One of the easiest ways to silence the camera shutter sound on your iPhone is by using Live Photos. Live Photos is a feature that captures a short video clip before and after you take a photo. By enabling this feature, you can effectively disable the camera sound.
To use Live Photos, open the Camera app on your iPhone. Ensure that the Photo mode is selected, indicated by the icon at the bottom center of the screen. Look for a circular icon at the top of the screen with “Live” written on it. If the icon is yellow, it means Live Photos is enabled. Tap on it to turn it off, and the icon will turn white, indicating that Live Photos is disabled.
With Live Photos disabled, the camera shutter sound will be muted, allowing you to take photos silently. However, keep in mind that Live Photos will not be captured while this feature is turned off.
Turn on Silent Mode to Disable Camera Sound and Screenshot Sound
Another method to turn off the camera sound on your iPhone is by using the silent mode. When your iPhone is in silent mode, not only will it silence incoming calls and notifications, but it will also mute the camera sound and the screenshot sound.
To switch your iPhone to silent mode, locate the physical switch on the left-hand side of your device, just above the volume buttons. Push the switch towards the back of your iPhone until you see a small orange line appear. This indicates that your iPhone is now in silent mode.
Once your iPhone is in silent mode, you can open the Camera app and take photos without any sound. Additionally, when you capture a screenshot by pressing the Home and Power buttons simultaneously, there will be no shutter sound either. If you prefer not to use silent mode, you can also turn off the camera sound by setting the system volume to zero. This method will specifically disable the snap sound that occurs when you take a photo.
To adjust the system volume on your iPhone, locate the volume buttons on the left-hand side of your device, just below the physical switch. Press the volume down button repeatedly until the volume indicator on the screen reaches zero.
